Hugh Nelson
Mr. Nelson is a member of Houlihan Lokey’s Financial and Valuation Advisory business and is on the review committee for the firm’s Fund Opinions practice. Since joining the firm in 2004, Mr. Nelson has worked with both public and private companies, assisting boards of directors, special committees, and other fiduciaries in connection with transaction opinions in mergers and acquisitions, spinoffs, dividend recapitalizations, and going-privates. He has also provided valuation and advisory services to private equity funds and hedge funds in connection with reporting the fair value of illiquid securities, such as leveraged loans, and preferred equity investments in early- and development-stage companies. Mr. Nelson has experience in the energy industry, having worked on many complex situations involving the exploration and production, midstream, oil field services, and retail/C-store subsectors. Mr. Nelson holds a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of the West Indies and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business. He is a CFA charterholder.
