Advanced Career Essentials

Advanced Career Essentials is a career readiness series designed for students who want to strengthen their professional and technical skills through hands-on learning and experience with workplace tools. Through a series of 8 workshops, Advanced Career Essentials will help students prepare for internships, part-time jobs, and future career exploration while building confidence, challenging themselves, and taking their professional skills to the next level.

How Advanced Career Essentials Works

  • New York City high school students within the five boroughs who have participated in Career Essentials or a similar work readiness program are eligible to apply.
  • Students attend 8 workshops that meet for two hours after school during the spring semester.
  • Students will take a career exploration field trip with a Futures and Options employer partner to learn more about potential career pathways.  Students must commit to being on time to and attending all workshops and events associated with the Career Essentials program.

Advanced Career Essentials was a strong follow up because it expanded on the professional skills from Career Essentials and gave more real-world experience through Excel, networking, and company visits.
